Ronald Sebilo-Tibbits

Ronald Sebilo-Tibbits

Ronald, a graduate student at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, is pursuing a career as a film producer. His primary interest is in harnessing the power of a good story to engage the human imagination. "Through the catharsis of laughter and sorrow we open ourselves to another's perspective. We experience lives and worlds outside or our own from the safety of our seats in a theater audience. That's what I want to give to people,"said Ronald.

Born and raised in Lesotho, Southern Africa he is deeply moved and influenced by filmmakers such as the late great Senegalese writer/director Ousmane Sembene, who used this medium not only to engage and educate the largely illiterate population of rural West Africa, but also to illuminate the stories of their lives. "He opened the eyes of the world to the beauty of what was commonly referred to in the west as the 'dark continent,'" he shared. It is in this spirit of curiosity, with an aim for enlightenment and reverence for nature and humanity that he approaches film. More about Ronald at Naledi Media.
